Baseball Team Defeated St. Michael’s

Coach Garidel has started his 27th season as the Head Baseball Coach with two wins this season. On Monday, the baseball team showed why they are ranked number 6 in the state by soundly defeating Covington High 11-3. Junior Ryan Ramirez was the starting pitcher and went 3 1/3 innings giving up 2 earned runs and 1 un-earned. Senior Clay Elliot closed the game 2 2/3 innings with 0 runs scored. M. Billings (Sr.) had a bases clearing triple in the 3rd, and C. Deno (Sr.) had a 3 run homer in the 5th that sealed the game offensively.

Yesterday, the Bears took on cross-town rivals St. Michael’s. A dominating performance on the mound by Michael Billings (Sr.) gave the Bears a 3-1 victory.

Billings, who has signed a college scholarship to play at LSU Eunice, threw a complete game allowing 0 earned runs and struck out 7. The senior also came through at the plate going 2-3 with an R.B.I. J. Morgan (Sr., 2-3) and K. David (Sr., 1-3) provided the other runs, and the strong defense in the field secured the win.

Today, the Bears take on the 7th ranked Destrehan Wildcats at 3:30. The game will be held at Catholic High and the starting pitcher will be B. Layman (Jr.). Come see a battle of two of the top teams in 5-A.
