ARTICLE UPDATE 1/6/2017 - Due to weather concerns, the freshman, JV and varsity basketball games scheduled for Friday, January 6, have been cancelled.

The CHS hoopsters traveled to Denham Springs Tuesday night, and defeated the 5A Yellow Jackets 49-42. Tensley Aldridge led all scorers with 21 points and Dean Jolly tallied 13 to help lead the Bears to victory.

The Bears led at the end of every quarter and enjoyed a 29-25 halftime lead. Denham outscored the Bears in three pointers, making six of four, but the difference in the game came at the free throw line. The Bears were a solid 15 of 17 at the charity stripe, with Denham converting on just two of eight attempts.

The win pushed the Bears' record to 12-7 on the season. On Friday, January 6, the Bears will play host to Archbishop Rummel, with the varsity tip off slated for 7:15 PM. The visiting Raiders sport a 12-5 record and hail from the Catholic League of New Orleans. CHS coach Mark Cascio commented on the matchup. "Rummel is a physically strong team and play a physical brand of basketball. They will pose a challenge for us, but will be good preparation for upcoming district play."

The 9th grade team will play the Raiders at 5 PM, followed by the junior varsity at 6 PM.
