CHS Students Place Sixth In LA High School Tech Challenge

Catholic High students placed sixth in the 11th annual Louisiana High School Technology Challenge. CHS had 15 seniors and juniors collaborating in the creation of 3 projects and a scavenger hunt during the four-hour competition.

This year, students created a 60-second video sharing tips about a healthier lifestyle. Brainstorming resulted in a unique idea for an app. The video demonstrated the app in use, showing the health benefits it produced.  Another group created a spreadsheet identifying costs for a canoe camping trip, using formulas and charts to convince frugal parents that the money would be well spent.  A third group created a PowerPoint tutorial to teach a new user how to create a composite image in Photoshop.

The Internet scavenger hunt required not only the correct answers, but reliable sources, such as medical journals, government agencies and trade publications.  Seniors participating include Collin DeVillier, Andrew Ford, Nicholaus Hutchinson, Michael Krzystowczyk, Brian Long, Nicholas Mueller and Andrew Schoonmaker.  Juniors participating include Brandon Andrews, Josh Campesi, Evan Goldsmith, Drew Harris, Adam Langlois, Trent Magill, Rees Romero and Steven Vince.
