CHS football coach Deuce Harrison has been named defensive coordinator for the Bears.
"I am extremely excited to elevate Coach Harrison to our defensive coordinator position for next season,” said head football coach Gabe Fertitta. “I have never met a coach to have a more detail-oriented approach to coaching. If I was given the choice to hire any football coach in America to do this job, it would be Deuce. His passion for Catholic High and the Brothers of the Sacred Heart also make him a great fit for our school community."
Harrison holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi College where he also played safety for the Choctaws from 1997-2001. He and Fertitta played together during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
Professionally, Harrison has served as head football coach at Delta Academy and defensive coordinator at Catholic High and St. Stanislaus. During Harrison's last year at St. Stanislaus, their defense was the #1 ranked defense in the state of Mississippi in 4A for points per game, yards per game and turnover margin. Harrison has been a part of two state championship teams: Livonia High School (2014) and Catholic High School (2015).
"I am thrilled to continue my involvement with the mission of Catholic High,” said Harrison. “I have a great deal of respect for the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, administration and alumni of Catholic High. I'm grateful for Coach Weiner giving me the opportunity to come back to Catholic High in 2015, and I am equally grateful to Gabe for entrusting me with the role of coordinating our defense moving forward. I know we have some very talented and hardworking players returning in 2017 and I'm looking forward to working with Gabe and the rest of the staff to continue the tradition of excellence that is Catholic High Football."
