Seven CHS Football Players Sign To Play Collegiate Football
ÒThe signing of a college scholarship is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication,Ó commented CHS Athletic Director J.P. Kelly. For seven senior CHS football players, their hard work and dedication paid off. Those seven ÒCurdogsÓ signed to play collegiate football on Wednesday, Feb. 1, National Football Signing Day.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire (RB) and Aaron Moffitt (DE) both signed with LSU. Also signing to play football at an in-state university are Tr Square (DE), Southern University; and Jacob Martin (OL), Nicholls State. Signing to play at an out-of-state university are Zach Tom (OT), Wake Forest University in North Carolina; Ben Miles (RB), University of Nebraska; and Chris Cameron (TE), Army West Point in New York.
ÒIÕm extremely proud of the young men who have officially signed collegiate football scholarships this morning,Ó said 2016-2017 head football coach Dale Weiner. ÒAll of them possess strong character, proper work ethic and self-discipline. The Catholic High football program is honored to have this legacy continue.Ó
This graduating class is the last group of signees under the leadership of longtime head CHS football coach, Dale Weiner. During his 30-year tenure, he has had more than 140 athletes sign to play at the collegiate level. ÒCatholic High football and Dale Weiner have a rich tradition of advancing players to the college ranks,Ó said Kelly. ÒCongratulations to our athletes, and we wish them all the best in the future.Ó
