The legacy of one Catholic High School alumnus and former faculty member lives on in the foundation established by friends and family in his memory ̐ Barefoot Pedals Foundation. Jeff Nola Ì¥94 served as Campus Minister at CHS before he lost his battle to cancer in 2011. During his 12 years as a faculty member, Jeff served the CHS community as a religion teacher, member of the campus ministry team and volunteer for mission trips.   He was also a former faculty moderator of the CHS Band.

On Wednesday, October 29, Barefoot Pedals Foundation awarded three CHS students scholarships in JeffÌ¥s memory.  Receiving scholarships were Josh Campbell Ì¥15, Jeff Nola Ì¥94 Student Minister Scholarship; Kyle Mistretta Ì¥15, Jeff Nola Ì¥94 Student Minister Scholarship; and Barrett Serio Ì¥15, Jeff Nola Ì¥94 Band Scholarship.

ÌÕItÌ¥s an acknowledgement that the efforts we put forth were accepted by others and truly means the world to our foundation.  It is amazing to see the fruits of our labor come to fruition by recognizing three young gentlemen who possess leadership and characteristics of Jeff that he lived throughout his life.  I think it is appropriate that the first scholarships to be awarded are student ministry and band at Catholic High School ̐ three of JeffÌ¥s favorite things,ÌÒ commented Andrew Brown Ì¥94, Barefoot Pedals Foundation president and treasurer.

ÌÕIt is a complete honor and surprise.  I would like to thank the family and foundation board.  This is a big honor,ÌÒ commented Josh Campbell Ì¥15.

ÌÕI will definitely try to live on the legacy of Mr. Nola after receiving this scholarship.  And thank you to his family for allowing me to receive this award,ÌÒ commented Kyle Mistretta Ì¥15.

ÌÕIt was an honor to receive this award.  Very thankful they chose me and I will try to uphold the honor that Mr. Nola embodies through this award,ÌÒ commented Barrett Serio Ì¥15.

Barefoot Pedals Foundation was established as a way to honor Jeff through the Jeff Nola ̥94 Memorial Scholarship Fund, as well as charities that exemplify the values and characteristics Jeff lived his life promoting.
