Vietnam Veteran Ben Reed Speaks to CHS History Classes

Ben Reed, a Vietnam veteran, visited the American History classes of Mr. Jared Cavalier and Mr. Andy Martin at Catholic High on April 21. Reed spoke of his experiences in Vietnam while serving with the Kilo Company 3rd Batallion 9th Marine Regiment 3rd Marine Division from 1969-1970 near Khe Sanh in the Quang Tri Province. Reed, an award winning journalist and assistant state editor for The Advocate, has written a fictional novel, My Dying Breath, based on his experiences in Vietnam. The novel tells the story of three Louisiana men who leave home to fight in a war in Vietnam....

CHS Basketball Player Named to Academic All-State Team

Catholic High School Senior Blaine Aydell was named to the Class 5A Academic All-State Basketball team. Named to the Honorable Mention team were Andrew Gaudin, forward; Ben Nelson, guard; and Matthew Dardenne, guard. Players named must have been selected as an all-district player for the 2004-05 basketball season in his/her respective sport. Each school principal was allowed to nominate a maximum of two players who were not all-district selectees. CHS Tennis Team Advanced in the Regional Tournament

The CHS tennis team played in the regional tournament on Monday, April 25. Singles player Cody Loup and the doubles teams of David Dugas and Brett Blanchard, Tim Kwan and Daniel Arbour, and Reed Stephens and Stuart Hall all advanced to the later rounds of the tournament, qualifying them for participation in the state tournament.
