Tennis Team Hosts Inaugural CHS Tour of Champions

Alumni and members of the local tennis community had the opportunity to compete against the Catholic High state champion tennis team at the inaugural CHS Tour of Champions. Guests competing against the high school champions included local tennis professionals, past nationally ranked junior tennis players as well as Catholic High alumni who also won State when they competed at CHS. Jenny Ridge Joins Staff In CHS Office of Advancement

Catholic High School is pleased to announce that Jenny Ridge has joined the staff of the Catholic High School Office of Advancement. Ridge will serve as the new Associate Director of Alumni Relations, replacing Barbara Camp who retired after 19 years of dedicated service to CHS. For the past nine years, Ridge has worked in development and communications for the Mental Health Association of Greater Baton Rouge. More Than 100 Guests Enjoy CHS Men's Club Guys' Night Out!

The Catholic High School Men’s Club hosted its second Guys’ Night Out on Thursday, February 16, 2017. The event was an opportunity to thank current members for their continued support of CHS, and for prospective members to learn about the Men’s Club and how they too can get involved. The evening began with a social hour, where old friends reconnected and newcomers had the opportunity to meet and mingle with current members. CHS Men's Club Hosts 81st Annual Stag Barbecue

On Saturday, January 14, 2017, the CHS Men’s Club hosted its 81st annual Stag Barbecue fundraiser. The event was originally scheduled for August 27, 2016, but was postponed due to the catastrophic flooding experienced in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. Nearly 1,000 guests enjoyed a perfect fall-like evening as they gathered to reconnect with old friends and feast on an incredible steak dinner with all the fixin’s. CHS Grads Come Home To Help Worthy Cause

On Thursday, December 22, Baton Rouge native and CHS graduate Blair Gilley '95, will host a benefit concert to support the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. His band January Noise will perform along with fellow CHS graduate David Borne’ '02, and other local musicians. The show begins at 8 PM at The Varsity Theatre. CHS Graduate Major Applewhite '97 Named Next Head Football Coach At Houston

Catholic High graduate Major Applewhite '97, has been named the next head football coach at the University of Houston. Applewhite, who served as offensive coordinator for the Cougars under former Houston coach Tom Herman, played quarterback for the Bears from 1993-1997. Following graduation from Catholic High, Applewhite had a successful career at the University of Texas, playing quarterback for the Longhorns from 1998-2001. More Than 550 Guests Attend CHS Taste Fair And Auction

The Catholic High School Alumni Association partnered with the CHS Mothers’ Club to host the first ever CHS Taste Fair & Auction on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, in the school gymnasium. Over 550 alumni, guests and friends of Catholic High School gathered to experience a wonderful evening of great food and beverages, and exciting silent and live auction items. Men's Club Barbecue Rescheduled For January 14, 2017

The CHS Men’s Club 81st Annual Stag Barbecue that was postponed due to the flooding in August, has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2017. Tickets purchased in advance that were already picked up or mailed will be honored, so please do not discard them. Alumnus Colin Bone '16 Competes in Olympic Swimming Trials

CHS graduate Colin Bone '16 finished 31st out of 105 swimmers in the 200-meter freestyle at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in Omaha, Nebraska, on Monday, June 27. Bone, an Auburn signee, won the first preliminary heat with a time of 1:49.74. Bone is the only high school-aged competitor from Louisiana to qualify for the Olympic swimming trials and will compete again on Wednesday, June 29, in the 100-meter freestyle preliminary heats.
