Baseball Bears Prep For Season With Brothers Of The Sacred Heart Jamboree

The Brothers of the Sacred Heart Jamboree will be the last pre-season evaluation before coach Brad Bass’ team opens the season.  The Jamboree will take place at Grizzly Field on Saturday, Feb. 18.

The Bears will play Class 3A power E.D. White of Thibodaux at 2 p.m. The Cardinals were the #2 seed in last season’s playoffs and were defeated in the semifinals. EDW will compete for the Division II title this season.

At 3:30, the Bears will take on Brother Martin. The Crusaders were the #8 seed last season and were eliminated in the second round.  Brother Martin is annually one of the heavyweights in the Catholic League.

Coach Bass welcomes back starting position players Brennan Lambert (catcher); Cole Johnson (infield), Will Ethridge (infield), Peyton Alexander (utility) and Patrick Crifasi (outfield).  Brady Hebert returns after ascending to the #2 starter role last year.  Austin Andrishok returns after sitting out the 2016 season due to injury.  Parker Evans, Max Wagner, Samuel Prescott and Landon Boeneke will see lots of action on the hill for the Bears.

CHS will open the season against Slidell at Southeastern Louisiana University on Monday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m.  The Tigers finished 10-18 in 2016 and dropped last year’s opener to the Bears, 13-3.  Slidell is coached by former LSU Tiger baseball player Clayton Harris.
