Basketball Bears Continue To Impress At 24-2
The CHS basketball team recorded two more impressive victories this past week over Live Oak and Country Day to run their record to 24-2 on the season.
On Tuesday, the Bears traveled to Live Oak to take on the Eagles. The Bears jumped out to an early double-digit lead in the first quarter. However, Live Oak responded with a strong run of their own and closed the first half down by eight. In the second half, CHS used the three-point shot to pull away from the Eagles. The Bears made 14 three-pointers on the night on their way to a 74-54 road win. Seniors Kentrell Garnett and Caleb Warner led the way with 19 points each.
Friday, CHS hosted the defending Division III Champions, Country Day, from New Orleans. The Bears wasted no time in using their fast-paced tempo and pressure defense to build an early lead. CHS outscored the Cajuns 23-13 in the second quarter on their way to a 34-18 halftime advantage. Country Day mounted several comeback attempts in the second half, but the Bears were able to keep their distance from the Cajuns by forcing 19 turnovers in a 75-62 win. Senior London Scott had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the victory.
This week, the Bears travel to Donaldsonville on Tuesday, and Zachary on Friday.
