Bears’ Defense And Running Game Overwhelm East Ascension

The Bears opened district play this past Friday with a dominant 41-6 victory over rival East Ascension. The win moves the Bears to 6-0 on the season.

After a rough outing against St. Thomas More, Catholic’s defense responded in a big way holding the Spartans to a single touchdown and 264 yards of total offense. Offensively, the Bears’ two senior running backs, Braelen Morgan and Josh Parker, took control combining for nearly 300 yards rushing and two scores. Parker produced yet another 100-yard rushing game totaling 178 yards on 16 carries, including a 44-yard touchdown scamper. Morgan finished with 90 yards after he began the night with a 43-yard run on the opening play from scrimmage before scoring later in the drive to give the Bears a lead they would never relinquish.

Senior quarterback Jackson Thomas was on target once again completing 15 of his 24 passes for 153 yards, including a 25-yard scoring strike to Jaelen Toaston. Juniors George Hart and Landon O’Connor also found the end zone for the Bears.
