Big Orange Wave Opens Season With Convincing Win

Like so many seasons past, the CHS cross country team opened with a convincing victory in the Bayou Boogie meet at Highland Road Park. The Bears compiled a low score of 39, besting runner-up John Curtis (105 points) by a comfortable margin on a boggy course. The Big Orange Wave were paced by junior Collin Hedges (16:28), who finished third, and fellow junior James Lalonde (16:31), who placed fifth. Christopher Cuntz ran seventh (16:49), Ben Langley placed eleventh (17:03) and Peter Kelly (17:09) rounded out the top five, finishing thirteenth. The Bears dominated the rest of the competition, including 5A schools Mandeville (3rd), Live Oak (7th), Zachary (10th) and Ponchatoula (12th).

The Big Orange Wave springs back to action on Saturday, September 9, at Highland Road Park in the Round Table Run, hosted by Episcopal. The horn sounds to begin the boys’ varsity race at 9:00 a.m.
