Catholic High Athletes to Receive Southern Quality Ford Cup
Catholic High School will be presented with the 2007 Class 5A Southern Quality Ford Cup as the winner of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s All-Sports Award on Friday, September 28, 2007 at a Pep Rally in the CHS Gym.
This award recognizes the most outstanding overall athletic program among LHSAA member schools in each of the seven classes.
‘We are excited about this honor,’ commented CHS Athletic Director Pete Boudreaux. ‘The athletic program is part of the total school program which strives to achieve excellence at every level.’
This is the first time Catholic High has been named the Class 5A winner. The All-Sports Award is based on points schools receive for each sport. Points are award to only the top 4 finishers in each sport. Sixty points are awarded for a first place finish, 30 points for a second place finish, 20 points for a third place finish and 10 points for a fourth place finish. In bracketed sports, the two semifinalists receive 15 points each.
Catholic High finished with 305 points followed by Jesuit of New Orleans with 300 points.
