Catholic High Wins Seventh Straight City Wrestling Title

Catholic High clinched its seventh straight city championship, a record for most consecutive city titles, and collected six individual titles to score 244 points.

CHS was led by returning champions Blake Savoie (119), Ben Carroll (145) and J.P. Luckett (171). Savoie picked up his third city title with a technical fall over Garrett Minard of Live Oak and was named Outstanding Wrestler for the meet. Luckett used two take downs to hold of Marshall Leavoy of St. Michael.

Other CHS champions included Chase Fresina (125), Collin Durrett (130) and Patrick Bourgoyne (160). Junior J.P. Luckett and Senior Ben Carroll both became two-time City Champions.

Winning in the Consolation bracket were Austin Becnel (103), James Loupe (138), Wade Samaha (152) and Trey Misuraca (140).

In addition, the JV team won the JV City Title by 150 points over the second place team.

The Bears will defend their Division I title when the LHSAA State Tournament opens February 13 at the Ponchartrain Center in Kenner, Louisiana.
