CHS and SJA Students Attend St. Anne’s Mission in Klagetoh, Arizona

Eight CHS students and six SJA students attended St. Anneí´s Mission in Klagetoh, Arizona on June 13-20. The mission was on a Navajo reservation run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.

On the reservation, the studentsí´ primary job was to put on a vacation Bible school for the Navajo children of the area. Each day of Bible school included arts and crafts, music class, scripture lessons and outdoor games.

Each day after Bible schools, the students were able to participate in a lot of things including hiking at Canyon de Chelly National Monument, attended a concert of Native American flute music, visited to Window Rock (Capital of the Navajo Nation), played bingo with the elderly at a local nursing home in Chinle, watched traditional Native American dances in Gallup, NM, visited Petrified Forest National Park and participated in traditional Native American cleansing/prayer ritual called a sweat lodge.

Each night ended with prayer around the fire and sharing of the dayí´s experiences. On the last day, the students put on a program of music and skits for the families of the Bible school kids.
