CHS Senior Earns Eagle Scout Ranking
Senior Christian Thompson was awarded his rank of Eagle Scout – the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process.
Christian has participated in scouts since the first grade, and throughout his time with the program, he has learned many skills and had the opportunity to travel across the country. He backpacked the mountains of New Mexico at Philmont Scout Ranch and sailed around Key West through Sea Base. He has also participated in other trips such as backpacking the Appalachian Mountains and Big Bend National Park. He has assisted St. Vincent de Paul at St. Jude annually with their Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for those in need.
For his Eagle Scout project, Christian chose to give back to a program that gave so much to him, by building 12 large team benches for the Baton Rouge Soccer Association soccer fields at Burbank.
Christian is still active with the Troop as a junior assistant scoutmaster and hopes to continue to remain active in scouts as an adult leader in the future.
