CHS Senior Karsten Brown Accepts His Appointment To The United States Air Force Academy
Congratulations to CHS senior Karsten Brown on receiving an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy. In a recent ceremony on the CHS campus, Brown was joined by his family, friends and CHS teachers to celebrate his achievement. USAFA Admissions Liaison Officer, Retired Lt. Colonel Graham Todd, was on hand to present Karsten his appointment and personally congratulate him on his success in what is an extremely competitive process. “Each year, the academy receives approximately 10,000 applications for admissions,” noted Todd. “Of those 10,000, only 1,150 will receive appointments.” In addition, students must also receive a nomination from their congressman.
Brown has always had an interest in flying. He is currently working on his pilots license and made his solo flight on March 31. After graduating from the academy, he plans to become a fighter pilot and ultimately a test pilot for the United States Air Force. Brown was recently featured in an Advocate article highlighting National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees Aviation Day, and was named a LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation 2019 Scholarship Recipient.
