CHS Soccer Splits Matches

The CHS soccer team split their two games last week, dropping their first match of the year to Dutchtown (2-1) on Wednesday, then rebounding to defeat St. Amant (2-1) on Saturday.  Both games were played “on the turf” at Catholic High.

CHS suffered its first loss and surrendered two goals for the first time this season.  Nick Brookshier found the net for the Bears and was assisted by Bobby Lee.

The Bears got on the board early against the Gators of St. Amant with a goal from Cole Cazenave in the second minute.  Cazenave was assisted by Michael Focht.  Matt Morales was assisted by Max Trapp for the Bears’ second goal and strong defense and keeper play by Will Whitehead sealed the victory for CHS.

The Bears sport a 4-1-1 overall record and take to the pitch on Wednesday, Dec. 9, to face East Ascension. Opening touch is at 6 p.m. on the road at Spartan Stadium (next to Gonzales Primary School) in Gonzales.
