CHS Students Attend First United States Province Mission Experience

On Sunday, June 29, 2014, 60 students from four Brothers’ schools including Catholic High gathered at Brother Martin High School to begin a week of service in New Orleans, marking this event as the first United States Province Mission Experience.  This event was planned to coincide with the merger of the three American Provinces into one, taking place today, July 1, 2014.

Representing this new province are students and faculty from Bishop Guertin High in Nashua, New Hampshire; St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; Catholic High in Baton Rouge; and host, Brother Martin High in New Orleans.  Throughout the week, the group will partner with the St. Bernard Project to work on four homes still in need of rebuilding nine years after Hurricane Katrina.  One of the houses is located in the lower 9th Ward, directly across the highway from unique, energy-efficient houses built by actor Brad Pitt’s Foundation.

Catholic High has nine students participating with CHS faculty Janet Vidrine and Scott Losavio: Alex Bertrand; Jack Grout; Daniel Heltz; Alex Landry; Brennan Lovell; Hunter Lovell; Tres Turner; Brett Vidrine; and Renard Woodard.
