CHS Students Visit Glenmary Farm in Kentucky

Nine Catholic High School students traveled to Glenmary Farm in Lewis County Kentucky on May 31 ‘ June 7 to serve the poor of this area. The students worked at People’s Self Help Housing, a Habitat for Humanity type organization; a local thrift store and food bank, a day care center for adults suffering emotional trauma, a local nursing home and a community center serving the elderly of the area.

The students spent their evenings with experiencing community living and a prayerful reflection on the day’s events.

"The Kentucky Mission Trip was a great experience, the Appalachian region is the most beautiful, but impoverished, place I’ve ever been. It’s never been more evident to me that there are plenty of people in great need within our own country," commented David Barnett.

Students participating were Brandon Bordelon, Charles Weimer, Chase Duhe, David Barnett, Jonathan Sivils, Nicholas Moreau, Ryan Frick, Thomas Baggett and Michael St. Blanc.
