CHS Wrestling Shooting For Fourth Consecutive City Title
The Catholic High wrestling team will host the City Tournament this weekend, Feb. 2-3. The Bears will kick off the event at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, with the prelims and first round consolation matches. On Saturday, later consolation rounds and the semifinals will take place in the morning. At 2:30 p.m., the finals are slated to begin.
The Bears are looking for their fourth consecutive city title. CHS has been a dominant force in Baton Rouge area wrestling, capturing 14 of the last 15 city titles. Catholic comes into the tournament with a 14-3 dual meet record and four overall #1 seed wrestlers – Luke Romano (113), Peter Kelly (120), Kade Fouts (138) and Jacob Fereday (170).
When asked what the City Tournament meant to him and the CHS program, CHS Wrestling Coach, Tommy Prochaska said, “The tradition of the City Tournament and Catholic High go hand in hand and our wrestlers understand the prestige that comes with winning the tournament. It is an honor to host City which will be in its 49th year of existence.”
