Coach Pete Boudreaux Named National Coach of the Year

Catholic High School Track Coach and Athletic Director Pete Boudreaux was selected as the 2010 Gill Athletics National High School Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Boudreaux was selected by Gill Athletics, in conjunction with USA Track & Field, out of 158 applicants, as a regional finalist for the South Central Region.  Out of the 12 finalists, one boysí´ coach and one girlsí´ coach is selected as National Coach of the Year.  This annual award is based on coaching record, honors and recognition and service to sport, school and community. 

Coach Boudreaux will be recognized at the Gill Athletics Coaches Social on June 26, 2010, in Des Moines, Iowa. 

In addition to the award, Boudreaux will receive $5,000 in Gill Athletics Track & Field equipment, complimentary tickets to the Coaches Social and on-field recognition at the Gill Athletics National High School Track & Field Coach of the Year awards ceremony during the 2010 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. 

íÍI feel very fortunate and humbled by this recognition for our school and the CHS track program.  At the same time, I fully understand that this recognition is the result of many very special people; my wife and family, the Catholic High School family, the assistant coaches that have so loyally worked with us and, of course, the many, many athletes through the years who have bought into what we were doing and have helped make us the storied program that we are today.  I have been very blessed to be surrounded by such loyal, giving and caring people,íñ commented Coach Boudreax. 

Coach Boudreaux, a 1959 graduate of Catholic High, has coached at Catholic High for 43 years.  He coaches track & field and cross country.  His track and cross country teams have won 52 district championships and 33 state titles.
