King Mackerel to Substitute for Triggerfish in Fishing Rodeo

As reported by Joe Macaluso in his article in The Sunday Advocate Outdoors section this past Sunday, the National Marine Fisheries Service removed gray triggerfish from the recreational fishing list earlier this month and closed the season on triggerfish through the end of this year.

The fishing rodeo committee has decided to substitute king mackerel in place of triggerfish to complete the twelve species categories, which are as follows: speckled trout, redfish (16 inches to less than 27 inches long), flounder, red snapper, cobia, mangrove snapper, yellowfin tuna, dolphin, wahoo, white trout and blackfin tuna.

The 5th Annual Alumni Fishing Rodeo will be held this Friday and Saturday, June 22nd and 23rd at Chris Moraní´s Marina in Port Fourchon. Online registration for the tournament will end at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20. You may register in person Thursday, June 21 from 6 í 9 p.m. at Chris Moraní´s Marina in Fourchon.
