Lacrosse Team Captures District Championship, Prepares for Playoffs

The Catholic High Lacrosse Bears closed out their regular season with an 11 – 6 overall record and a District record of 5 – 1.  After opening District play with a loss, the team came back strong and will now carries a six game winning streak into the playoffs.

On Sunday the Bears beat Caddo Magnet in Shreveport to secure the West District Championship and the number one seed in the playoffs.  After a four hour rain delay, the senior-laden team came out focused and never trailed.  Captain Grant Langley lead the way on the offensive side of the ball, with four points off of three goals and one assist.  He was followed by senior Taylor Boyle, who had three points, off of one goal and two assists.  Defensively, the Bears were lead by Captain Adrian Toranto, who had seven ground balls and four takeaways and goalie Zach Minton, who had nine saves in the cage.

The seven-year-old CHS Lacrosse program had many firsts this season including:  most games played in a season, most wins in a season, first time traveling to Houston to play, first time district champions and the first time to host a playoff game.
