Mothers’ Club Presents Lip Sync Battle With The Bears

The CHS Mothers’ Club presented its inaugural Lip Sync Battle with the Bears on Saturday, March 11, in the CHS Gym.  The sold-out event featured eight performances by groups of CHS community members, including faculty, coaches, alumni, parents and other friends of CHS.

Emcees, Dixon McMakin Õ05 and Rachel Reynolds, opened the show by welcoming Brother Ray Hebert, SC and Brother Paul Montero, SC to the stage to sing the opening prayer, then invited the CHS Show Choir to perform before the competition began.  All of the acts demonstrated the hours of practice and preparation put in by the performers and their choreographers and were entertaining for all.  ÒYou never know how the first event of its kind will be received by the Catholic High community,Ó said McMakin. ÒBut by the amount of money raised and the cheers and laughs we heard on stage, I think it is safe to say this event rocked the night.Ó He added, ÒI think you know it was a successful event when people were coming up to co-host Rachel Reynolds and myself and already asking us to be a part of it for next year.Ó

The CHS coachesÕ team, ÒCoach It Like ItÕs Hot,Ó won the PeopleÕs Choice award and the group of former MothersÕ Club presidents, ÒThe Artists Formerly Known as Mom-Prez,Ó took home the championship belt.  Ben DiPalma of the coachesÕ team commented, “It was a great event. The MothersÕ Club really out did themselves and as an alumnus and faculty member, I am extremely grateful. People are already excited about next year which is probably the best compliment one can give. I know the coaches’ team is looking forward to competing again.”

In addition to the showÕs awards, the MothersÕ Club annual car raffle winner was drawn.  Bridgette Plauche received a phone call from the stage and received the great news from McMakin and CHS principal, Lisa Harvey.

ÒIt was so exciting to see our Lip Sync Battle idea come to life,Ó said MothersÕ Club president Jenny Ridge. ÒThe Mothers’ Club could not have accomplished this without the help of our amazing LSB committee and the support of the Catholic High community.Ó  Amy Echols served as the eventÕs chair while Susan Lindrew managed the elaborate production.
