1LT Sean Gahagan ’05 Donates U.S. Flag to Catholic High

In appreciation for care packages, prayers and support from CHS, 1LT Sean Gahagan í´05 has donated a flag to Catholic High School that was flown in Afghanistan.  The flag was flown over the Fallen Soldiersí´ Memorial at Forward Operating Base Fenty, Jalalabad, Afghanistan on January 11, 2012. 

íÍOn behalf of the soldiers of the 325th Brigade Support Battalion, thank you for all of your support during our deployment.  The care packages sent by Catholic High School were a significant morale boost for our soldiers.  As we prepare to return home over the next month, please accept this token of our appreciation,íñ signed 1Lt. Sean M. Gahagan í´05.

On Tuesday, March 20, students, faculty, staff and family members of Gahagan gathered to raise the flag over Catholic High School.  Students raised the flag as CHS Alumni Director Glen Randow led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.  The ceremony ended with a prayer for our troops around the CHS Flag Pole.

A Certificate of Authenticity sent with the flag read: íÍThis flag was flown over the Fallen Soldiersí´ Memorial at Forward Operating Base Fenty, Jalalabad, Afghanistan on 11 January 2012.The Memorial stands at the entrance of the Forward Operating Base as a reminder to all who arrive to serve in RC East of the Sacrifice their Brethren have made in the fight against terror during Operation Enduring Freedom.  The names of all soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who have given their lives in RC East are inscribed in plaques on the Memorialí´s Wall.  May their sacrifice never be forgotten.íñ  The certificate is signed and dated: This 11th Day of January 2012 by Carey A.
