Anglers Enjoy Great Weather at the 8th Annual CHS Fishing Rodeo

Adult, kayak and youth anglers enjoyed great weather and fishing at the 8th Annual Catholic High Rodeo held June 5 and 6 at Moraní´s Marina in Fourchon, LA.

Walk-Oní´s was the title sponsor of this yearí´s event. Division sponsors were Cajun Industries LLC, Fourrier Agency, Group Industries LLC and Southern Packaging, Inc. Rodeo prizes were sponsored by K2 Coolers and Jules Madere Creative Jewelers sponsored the Master Angler awards. We would also like to express our appreciation to the many sponsors who supported the rodeo with their monetary and in-kind gifts!

For the first time, the Captainí´s Party was held in the Pavilion at Moraní´s on Thursday, June 4. Jay Chaisson prepared pastalaya for the Captainí´s Party. At the weigh-in events on Friday and Saturday, participants enjoyed food by Walk-Oní´s Catering. Everyone was treated to live music each night by Bubba Plauch_.

Congratulations to Master Angler winners Marcus Valenciano í´93 in the Rig Division, Wolfe Waushauer í´95 in the Bluewater Division, Mary Dry in the Inshore Division and Evan Madere in the Youth Division.

Winners of the top raffle board prizes are Steve Matthews, winner of the KC Kayak provided by The Backpacker; Mike Blanchard, winner of a 55íñ LED flat screen TV donated by Sherwood Magnavox and Appliances; John Bahlinger í´79, winner of a Ray Marine Radar/GPS/Chart Plotter from West Marine; Brad Tuminello í´81, winner of a Lowrance Elite-5 Fish Finder also from West Marine; and Canton Plauch_, winner of a .22 rifle with scope donated by Bowie Outfitters.

Some wonderful hunting and fishing trips, including a shrimping trip and a dinner for 10 were prizes won by participants in the Cup Raffle.

The 2015 Fishing Rodeo committee was co-chaired by Brad Bourg í´91 and Carter Fourrier ’92. The committee would like to express their gratitude to Chris Moran and his staff for their assistance in making this yearí´s rodeo a great success.
