Austin Nola Named Gatorade State Baseball Player of the Year
Catholic High School senior, Austin Nola, has been selected as the Gatorade Louisiana Baseball Player of the Year. Recipients of this award are selected not only for their outstanding athletic performance, but also for meeting high academic-achievement standards while demonstrating exemplary personal character on and off the field.
Nola hit .447 with 48 runs scored, 42 runs batted in and 13 home runs this season, leading the Bears (33-7) to the Class 5A state semifinals. A two-time first-team LSWA All-State selection, Nola was the Outstanding Player on the All-Metro team for Class 5A.
Nola also maintained a 3.8 GPA and volunteered at both the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store as well as Habitat for Humanity.
Nola is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year award to be announced in June.
