Students representing the Bears Against Destructive Decisions (B.A.D.D.) club participated in the iCare/Team Spirit Conference at the Pennington Biomedical Research Conference Center. Catholic High School juniors Francis Dinh and Hunter Doiron, and seniors Joshua Campesi, Michael Crick, Stephen Gaudin and Jacques Gaspard were the members of the club participating in the conference. These students spent the day working with more than 20 high schools from the Baton Rouge area discussing and learning about the issues regarding substance abuse, bullying and violence prevention.
Members of B.A.D.D. partnered with their St. Joseph’s Academy counterparts in the iCare club to formulate their action plans in preparation for Red Ribbon Week approaching in October. The conference consisted of vendors, guest speakers, team building exercises and group planning to promote constructive behaviors in high schools. The goal of the conference was to create an environment of leadership in order to address real life issues regarding destructive decisions.
