Baseball Bears Bag Lucky 13!
The baseball Bears opened district play Thursday night with a 8-1 victory over East Ascension in Gonzales. The Bears won their thirteenth game in a row, and pushed their overall record to 18-4.
Brady Hebert bagged the win on the mound, moving his record to 4-0 on the season. The sophomore gave up just one run in six innings while striking out four and yielding four hits. Senior lefty Brady Sartain, put up a goose egg in the seventh and struck out two Spartan hitters in effective relief work.
The Bears put up crooked numbers on the scoreboard in the third and fifth innings, plating two and three runs respectively. Single runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings added to the widening margin.
Patrick Crifasi was 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored to lead CHS offensively. Daniel Guilbeau had a double and Will Ethridge added a triple for the Bears.
The Bears will face East Ascension again on Saturday, April 2, at Grizzly Field with first pitch set for 1 p,m. Coach Brad Bass’ club enters the 5-5A contest as the third ranked team in the Class 5A power ratings.
