Baseball Bears Continue Successful Tradition

The Bear baseball program has continued its tradition as one of the best in Louisiana.  The Bears are currently 26-3 overall with a 4-1 district record in 5-5A.

Over the holiday break, the Bears went 4-0, first defeating Redemptorist in the last meeting with the north Baton Rouge school.  The victory was followed by two shutout wins over Dutchtown. Junior righty Brian Fairbanks fired a no-hitter in his team’s 4-0 win, while senior southpaw Ross Massey shut down Dutchtown in the Bears’ 10-0 tally.  The Bears closed out spring break in their 13-1 affair against McKinley.

With the 26-3 ledger, Brad Bass’ charges hold the #2 spot in the Class 5A power ratings.  The Black & Orange will host McKinley on the 14th and Woodlawn in a doubleheader on the 16th.  First pitch for both days is 4:00 p.m.  The varsity will close out its regular season with a two game series next week versus East Ascension.

With two weeks remaining in their seasons, the junior varsity team has a 14-1-1 record, while the freshman team sports a 13-3 mark.
