Baseball Bears Notch Convincing Win Over The Weekend
The Scotlandville baseball team came to Grizzly Field on Sunday afternoon with an unblemished 19-0 record. The Bears made short work of their opponents, winning the game 10-0 in five innings and cashed in on a power points bonanza by defeating the Hornets.
Grant Segar threw a five inning complete game, giving up three hits and striking out three. Segar improved his record to 3-1, throwing 49 strikes on just 67 pitches. The game was scoreless after two innings before the Bears had a four run barrage in the third, followed by a six spot in the bottom of the fourth. CHS took advantage of ten hits, led by Jordan Werner with a 2-2 day at the plate and was a hit by pitch. Elijah Reames had a pinch hit double to drive in two runs and Brennan Lambert and Patrick Crifasi also drove in two runs.
The Bears are now 16-6 on the season with district play set to open on Tuesday, March 28, with East Ascension visiting Grizzly Field. First pitch is set 6 p.m. The Bears have won seven in a row and nine of their last ten games which pleases coach Brad Bass. “We are playing our best ball going into district. The Ascension Parish programs are well-coached and always provide stiff competition. Our guys can’t wait for Tuesday.”
