Baseball Bears Pick Up Two More

The CHS baseball team improved its record to 20-6 with doubleheader victories over Broadmoor on Saturday  at Grizzly Field. The Bears opened with a 15-0 win in the first game and followed with a 9-2 victory in the second game.

In game one, seniors Max Wagner and Michael Avery combined for a three inning no-hitter over the Buccaneers. Wagner picked up his first win of the season and struck out six.  Avery tossed a scoreless third inning for the Bears to wrap up the no-hitter. Brennan Lambert, Parker Evans and Jordan Werner had multiple hits for the Bears in the 15-0 win.

In game two, coach Brad Bass emptied the bench and sent most of the junior varsity to the plate. Senior Sam Prescott earned his first win of the season, throwing the first two frames and striking out four. Senior Brandon Avery pitched the next two innings and K’d three Buc hitters. Junior Blake Davis closed things out on the mound with two strike outs in one inning of work.

The Bears have a few days off as they prepare for the St. Amant Gators. CHS will host the Gators at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, then travel to St. Amant for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday, April 8.

The Gators have four college players on their roster led by LSU signee Blayne Enlow, one of the top rated prep pitchers in the country.
