Baseball Bears Stretch Win Streak To 14!
The CHS baseball team continued its hot streak, winning their fourteenth straight game en route to a 8-6 win over Dutchtown. The Bears are now 23-6 and 7-0 in district play, keeping a firm grip on the #2 spot in the Division I power ratings behind John Curtis.
The Bears picked up a six run second inning, to support CHS starting pitcher Austin Andrishok. Andrishok (5-0) went four innings and was relieved by Grant Segar who closed out the final three innings for his second save of the season. The Bears were aided by five Dutchtown errors along with two hit efforts from Cole Johnson, Brennan Lambert and Patrick Crifasi. Will Ethridge and Brady Hebert collected two RBIs each.
Back tracking to Saturday’s game, the Bears picked up a road win against St. Amant, 5-1, to sweep the 5-5A series against the Gators. The Bears scratched out five hits in seven innings against LSU signee and possible first round draft pick Blayne Enlow. The Gators made six errors, and Brady Hebert and Will Ethridge had two hits apiece. Brady Perry tossed four innings in the win, moving his record to 3-2 on the year. Nathan Bell threw three innings and picked up his team leading fourth save.
The Bears had an errorless performance on defense which proved to be a huge key in the district win.
“We are playing great baseball as we hit the end of the season. Our guys have fully bought in to our approach at the plate and our plan at practice,” commentede CHS coach Brad Bass.
The Bears face Dutchtown for the final game of the series on Thursday, April 13, in Geismar. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
