Baseball Bears Tune-Up For Opening Day

The diamond Bears traveled to Brother Martin for the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Jamboree on Saturday, Feb. 20.  The Bears played two three inning games against Brothers’ schools in the final pre-season tune-up. Catholic High, host Brother Martin, E.D. White, and Vandebilt Catholic participated in the event.

The Bears tied E.D. White, a top ten program in 3A, 0-0 in the first game. In the second three inning matchup, the Bears defeated Brother Martin, a 2015 5A semifinalist, 7-5.

CHS coach Brad Bass commented on the event, “Saturday was not only a great day of baseball, but a great day for community and fellowship among the Brothers’ schools. We look forward to opening our season on Tuesday against Slidell.”

The Bears open their season at home on Tuesday, Feb. 23, against the 5A Slidell Tigers. Slidell is coached by former LSU Tiger Clay Harris, and are annual visitors to the state baseball playoffs.
The Bears are scheduled to start LSU-E signee Brian Fairbanks on the mound against the Tigers.  First pitch is set for 5:30pm – weather pending.
