Baseball Bears Win Big On The Road
The Bears used a complete game, two hit performance from senior pitcher Brian Fairbanks to beat Teurlings Catholic 3-2 on Tuesday night at UL-Lafayette’s Tigue Moore Field. Fairbanks struck out four batters, walked one and picked off four baserunners, in an eighty pitch performance that moves his record to 2-1 on the season. Both runs scored by the Rebels were unearned, and Fairbanks struck out the last hitter of the game with the tying run on third base.
The Bears were led offensively by Cole Johnson who went 1-3 with an RBI. Both Tristan Welch and Will Ethridge went 1-3 and Daniel Guilbeau was 1-1 with a RBI in three quality at-bats for the Bears.
“A big win for the Bears over one of the best programs in the state. Teurlings has a chance to win the 4A state championship this year and are always well-coached. Now we move onto a challenging weekend which will prepare us for district play right around the corner,” noted head coach Brad Bass. The Bears are now 8-4 on the season.
The Bears will participate in the Atchafalaya Challenge this weekend, with action beginning Thursday, March 17, at Acadiana High School in Scott. First pitch is for 4 p.m. with sophomore Brady Hebert on the mound for the Bears.
