Baseball Streak Extends to 15 Behind Strong Pitching Performance
Senior Brady Sartain faced the minimum nine hitters and the Bears picked up nine hits en route to a 19-0 win over Broadmoor on Tuesday. The Bears won their fifteenth in a row, the longest streak in any class in the state, and are 20-4 overall and 3-0 in district.
Sartain struck out the first eight Buc hitters he faced in tossing a three inning perfect game. The senior southpaw threw thirty of his forty-four pitches for strikes, and is now 2-1 on the year.
The Bears batted just twice in the game, scoring ten runs in the first and nine in the second with coach Brad Bass emptying the bench early. The club picked up nine hits against opposing Buc’s pitcher Tyler Woods.
Seniors Jonathan Fresina and Brandon Fairbanks went two for two at the plate. Fairbanks had five RBIs with a grand slam homer on the day. Jordan Werner, Josh Smith, Tristan Welch and Grant Segar had two RBIs versus the Bucs.
CHS will host the Bucs again on Thursday, April 7, at 4 p.m. at Grizzly Field with Saturday and Tuesday games against district rival St. Amant.
