Baseball Team Advances in State Playoffs
The CHS Baseball Team advances in the state playoffs following their win over Sulphur Tuesday night. The Bears beat the Golden Tornadoes with a score of 6-2. The Bears began the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning on a hit by Kevin Lindsey. Sulphur followed that by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. The game remained at 2-1 until the top of the 6th when Catholic High catcher Alex Tucker hit a solo home run over the left field wall to tie the game at 2 -2. The Bears kept the Tors from scoring in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the final inning the Bears loaded the bases for Hunter Shows who then hit a bases loaded triple giving the Bears a 5-2 lead. Jordan Romero then hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Shows and help seal the victory. CHS senior Grant Borne went the distance for the Bears, giving up only 4 hits and bringing his season record to 7-1.
The Bears will host Barbe in the next round of playoffs on Monday, May 7 at 4 p.m.
