Baseball Team Defeated Rummel
The Baseball team defeated the Rummel Raiders yesterday at Catholic High by a score of 9-7. A huge crowed was on hand to see how the Bears would match up with the #1 ranked team in the state and the #14th ranked team in the country. The crowed left elated and enthused about the team’s performance.

The Bear’s jumped out to a 1 run lead after the first inning, but fell behind by 4 runs going into the 5th. M. Billings (Sr.) pitched the first four innings giving up 3 earned runs and 5 total. I was in the 5th when the Bear’s struck.
The bats came alive in the bottom of the 5th inning. With two men on, Senior Kevin Davis went deep over the right field fence and tied the game at five. A run later in the inning put the bears on top by one. The Raiders then tied the game in the top of the 6th inning. A clutch double by R. Lewis in the bottom of the inning drove in two runs, and the bears added one more on a wild pitch. Lewis also provided a solid defensive performance. The sophomore came in as a relief pitcher in the 5th inning, and closed out the game earning his first varsity victory.
The team’s record now stands at 8-7 with the next game to take place on Friday. The Bears will take on Carencro in the Lafayette tournament. District competition will start on March 25th against Walker.
