Baseball Team Defeats Sulphur, Advances to State Semifinals

The CHS Varsity Baseball Team defeated Sulphur High School 4-2 on Friday, May 10 to advance to the semifinals of the LHSAA 5A state tournament. The Bears will play tomorrow, Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m. against the winner of the Barbe-West Monroe game at Turchin Stadium at Tulane University in New Orleans.

After an hour of rain delays, the CHS Bears and the Sulphur Tornadoes stayed tied at 0-0 through the fifth inning, until smash hits from Corey Free and Nick Coomes in the sixth inning garnered four runs for the Bears. The Tornadoes scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Bears were able to hold them and win the game 4-2.
