Basketball Bears Begin Season WIth a Win Over Jesuit 53-42

The Basketball team tipped off its regular season with a 53-42 win over 5A Jesuit at home on Tuesday, November 17.  The Bears were led by Toliver Freeman’s 21 points, which countered Jesuit’s Rob Weiss, who scored 16.  Ethan Tregle logged 13 points and Jacoby Carter chipped in 11 points for the Bears.

The Bears take their 1-0 into the Catholic High Thanksgiving Shootout beginning next week at the Bear Cave.  The tournament begins Monday, November 23, and wraps up on Wednesday, November 25, with the championship game scheduled for 8 p.m. 

The CHS roundballers open tourney competition with 5A Ponchatoula on Monday, November 23 at 8 p.m.  The Tuesday and Wednesday game times for the Bears depend on Monday and Tuesday’s outcome.  “Our team goal is to advance to the championship game on Wednesday night and exit the tournament with a 4-0 record,” said head basketball coach Mark Cascio.

Game times are set for 3:30, 5, 6:30 and 8 p.m. on all three days of Shootout play.
