Basketball Bears Fall Short To East Ascension, 66-46
District 5-5A play opened on Tuesday night with the Bears dropping the game, 66-46, to the East Ascension Spartans. EA entered play as one of the best teams in 5A, having defeated the defending state champs, Natchitoches-Central, and playing the top team in the select division, Scotlandville, very close. EA moves to 17-5 with the win and the Bears drop to 14-8 with the loss.
The Bears had 13 players score against the Spartans and were led by Tensley Aldredge with 11 points. Collin Holloway scored 6 with Dean Jolly and Hunter Williams chipping in 5 points. The Bears outscored EA 18-16 in the 4th quarter.
The Bears will attempt to rebound on Friday, Jan. 20, at Broadmoor. The 9th grade tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the junior varsity at 6. The varsity game breaks out at 7:15 p.m.
“Do not be deceived by Broadmoor’s record of 10-14. They beat a much improved 13-7 Dutchtown by 13 points last night,” said CHS head coach Mark Cascio. “We will have our work cut out for us on the road, but I look forward to seeing our guys respond at practice the next two days.”
