Basketball Bears Go 3-0 Over Thanksgiving

Over the break, the CHS basketball team hosted the annual Thanksgiving Shootout. The Bears went 3-0 in the round robin format defeating Plaquemine, Mandeville, and St. Thomas More. Those three wins kept the team undefeated on the season at 5-0.

On Monday, the Bears took on Plaquemine. Tough defense and clutch plays were able to lead CHS to a 60-47 win. Seniors Aaron Brock and Caleb Warner led the way for the Bears with 18 and 16 points respectively.

Tuesday, CHS raced out to an early lead over the Mandeville Skippers and never looked back on their way to an 87-41 victory. Junior Ian Cavana made five first-quarter three pointers as part of a 21-point performance.

Finally, the Bears took on St. Thomas More to finish the tournament. In a hard fought game, the Bears were able to seize control in the second half to secure a 73-58 win over the Cougars. Senior Peyton Worley had a career high 19 points in the victory.

The basketball Bear return to action this week as they travel to take on Broadmoor Tuesday and participate in the annual Gold Dome Classic at St. Amant Thursday through Saturday.
