Basketball Bears Open Season With 87-31 Victory Over Tara

The Catholic High basketball team opened the season by scoring early and often on the road against Tara. The Bears blitzed the Trojans with a relentless offense and suffocating defense to win on opening night, 87-31.

“I was pleased with taking the opener in dominant fashion,” said fifth year coach Mark Cascio. “It is a carryover of the great off-season we had that rivaled our preparation.  Obviously, we will receive more resistance in our home opener against Mandeville on Thursday night, but we will correct our mistakes and sharpen our gameplan for the Skippers on Wednesday at practice.”

Hunter Williams (17), Collin Holloway (16) and Kentrell Garnett Jr. (15) were the leading scorers for the Bears.

Tipoff for the freshman game on Thursday, Nov. 16, versus Mandeville is for 5 p.m.  The junior varsity game will follow and the varsity game will start at approximately 7 p.m. Bear Nation is asked to turn out in large numbers to support the Bears in their home opener.
