Basketball Team Continues In CYO Tournament After Win Against Holy Cross
The basketball Bears opened the CYO Tournament with a phenomenal 60-52 come from behind, overtime win over host Holy Cross on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in New Orleans. The Bears led 14-8 after the first quarter and found themselves down by 16 at halftime. The Bears fought back in the second half and tied the game on a Collin Holloway lay up with 12 seconds left in the game. In overtime, Dean Jolly hit back to back shots to lead a 6-0 run and free throws down the stretch of “OT” put the final margin at 8.
“What a great comeback by our guys. We went on the road in a premier pre-season tournament and found a way to comeback after giving up 26 points in the second quarter,” said Head Basketball Coach Mark Cascio. “We are a young squad and this speaks to their character and resilience. I am excited to see our guys play tonight against John Curtis.”
The Bears move on to the second round of the CYO tournament and will face John Curtis at Holy Cross. Tipoff is tonight, Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
