Basketball Team Goes 3-1 In Prestigious CYO Tournament
The CHS basketball team went 3-1 in the prestigious CYO Tournament in New Orleans on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Head Coach Mark Cascio’s group showed guts and character against solid competition during tournament play and was a few points from possibly playing in the championship game.
A wrap up on the CYO:
Holy Cross: The Bears opened with a come from behind victory over the Tigers of the Catholic League in the opener, 60-52. The Bears rallied from 16 points down to force overtime and dominated in the extra frame to win by eight.
John Curtis: In the second round, the Bears bowed by two to the 5A Patriots, 53-51, on a shot at the buzzer. Dean Jolly led CHS with 14 points, Tensley Aldredge put in 13 and Collin Holloway chipped in 11. John Curtis was the CYO runner-up.
East St. John: In round three, the Bears turned back their 5A opponent, 52-48. Tensley Aldredge led the Bears with 16 and Austin Lachney contributed 13.
West Jefferson: In the final round of the CYO, CHS defeated the 5A Buccaneers, 46-35. Remy Robert and Dean Jolly scored 9 apiece, while Tyler Mixon and Collin Holloway each scored 8.
CHS is back in action at home on Tuesday, Dec. 6, against Tara. The freshmen take the floor at 5 p.m., followed by the JV at 6. Varsity tips off at 7:15 p.m.
