Basketball Team Picks Up “Program Sweep” Over Broadmoor Bucs

The CHS basketball team picked up a district win last night over the Broadmoor Bucs 49-34. Tensley Aldredge led the Bears with 16 points and fellow senior Tyler Mixon added 10 points to the winning cause. The Bears improved to 16-12 on the season and will take on the St. Amant Gators on the road this Friday, Feb. 10.

Head coach Mark Cascio saw the Bears pick up a “program sweep” with the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams all collecting wins over Broadmoor. “I am proud of all three programs picking up wins last night. When the freshmen and junior varsity teams win, the varsity guys carry that momentum into their game,” said Cascio who is in season four as head coach for the Bears. The Catholic High alum basketball boss was especially encouraged by his team’s defensive performance against the Bucs. “The key to winning this game was winning the battle on the boards and being the more physical team. We will get back to work in preparation for St. Amant,” added Cascio.

Varsity tipoff against St. Amant on Friday, Feb. 10, is for 7:15 p.m. with freshman at 5 and the junior varsity at 6.

The 8th grade Bears will tip off tonight, Feb. 8, in the CHS gym as they take on the St. Aloysius Lions. Game time is for 6 p.m.
