Bear Metal Robotics Team Places Third in Regional Competition
The CHS Robotics Team, Bear Metal, competed in the Bayou Regional of the FIRST Robotics Competition at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner on Saturday, March 23. Prior to the Bayou Regional, each team had to design, build and program a robot to perform challenges that were presented at the competition.
Throughout the weekend, the CHS team competed in more than 10 qualifying rounds and finished the weekend ranked third out of 54 teams. CHS students who competed on the team were Max Lovretich, Sam Lovretich, Derin Acar, Tyler Bellue, Vincent Bianca, William Burnett, Trey Core, Hunter Dupr_, Michael Krzystowczyk, Mike Zielewski, Bailey Brown and Nicholas Mueller. All members of the Bear Metal team worked six days a week, Saturday through Thursday, to prepare for the competition.
The competition drew teams from Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Mr. Vic Caffarel and Mr. Greg Sollie serve as moderators for the Robotics Team.
