Bears Continue To Roll With Impressive Win And Move To 4-0
When the clock ran out this past Friday night at Memorial Stadium, the CHS football team had won their fourth straight game and made a statement in the process with a 47-12 win over the Karr Cougars.
After the defending 4A state champions took an early lead, the Bears scored 40 unanswered points over the final three quarters to run away with an impressive non-district victory. The onslaught began late in the first half as CHS scored twice in the final minute. Braelen Morgan hauled in a touchdown pass from Jackson Thomas, and just 30 seconds later, Michael Cerniauskas returned an interception 98 yards for a score. The second half featured three more Catholic touchdowns for the final margin.
The Bears’ offense was led by senior running back Josh Parker who rushed for 162 yards on 14 carries and two scores. Quarterback Jackson Thomas added 75 yards on the ground and 60 through the air.
This week marks the midway point of the season and the 4-0 Bears will be tested once again as they travel to Lafayette to take on St. Thomas More. The Cougars are also undefeated on the season with impressive victories over Holy Cross, Neville, Barbe, and Plaquemine. The Catholic defense will have its work cut out for them against a St. Thomas More offense that averages 42 points per game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday night. The game has been selected as the Cox Game of the Week.
