Bears Defeat St. Amant in District 5-5A Opener
The CHS Football Teams defeated St. Amant in the District 5-5A opener, 44-21, on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014.
CHS senior Jack Gonsoulin kicked a 22-yard field goal for the only points of the first quarter. LSU commit Derrius Guice carried over 300 yards and scored 4 touchdowns in the second quarter for the Bears. CHS running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire broke a 74-yard scoring run on the second play of the second half. Guice ended his rushing night at halftime with 229 yards on 14 carries and Edwards-Helaire finished with 121 yards on 14 carries.
In an article by Fred Aldrich in The Advocate, St. Amant coach David Oliver said that íÍCatholic was supposed to be the team to beat (in district) and they played like it tonight.íñ

This Friday, the Bears will travel to Dutchtown for one of this weekí´s key football games. Dutchtown is 3-3 and 1-0 in District. CHS has won the past two match-ups against Dutchtown. Tickets for the game are available in the Bookstore for $7 in advance and $8 at the gate.
